Fun with face painting, dressing up and sweets: that's what Halloween's all about for families. This year, why not treat your kids to a Halloween they will never forget with a trip to one of the capital's spooky events? There is a host of family-friendly options to choose from, including spooky days out at the zoo and the chance to explore ghostly ships aboard the historic Cutty Sark.

Here are just a few of the fun-filled events located within easy reach of us here at the Royal Garden Hotel.

Boo at the Zoo
Where: ZSL London Zoo
When: 21 October to 31 October
How to get there: From High Street Kensington tube station, take the Circle or District Line to Paddington, then change onto the Bakerloo Line for Regent's Park.

A trip to the zoo is always a real treat for children, and the ZSL London Zoo is one of the finest in the country. Here, you can see everything from prowling tigers to creepy crawlies, and this half-term it is promising a creepy twist.

From 21 to 31 October, you and your kids will have the chance to enjoy Boo at the Zoo. This is a full week of spooky treats, including everything from spooky storytelling and spine-tingling crafts, to the chance to see animals like bats, spiders and owls up close.

The activities will run from 11am to 3:30pm each day, and will be included in the normal ticket price. As you make your way through the various activities, children can collect stamps to show just how brave they have been on their day out!

Hair Raising Halloween

How to get there: Take a 30-minute stroll through Hyde Park, or board the number 10 bus from outside the hotel to Marble Arch.

A great way to get into the Halloween spirit is taking the children, a free event in Hyde Park this October. There will be plenty of Halloween-themed activities to enjoy too, as well as a bat trail to follow, making this a great day out for families.

Bermuda Triangle

How to get there: Take the Circle Line to Cannon Street, then change onto the train for Greenwich.

Go on a ghost hunt and encounter mysterious mathematicians and appalling astronauts roaming the ancient museum corridors. If you’re very nice they may even give you a spooky surprise gift! Take a dip in the alien ocean immersive space and create a deep sea alien monster then hop onto the makeshift Seastar science station and learn about the curious creatures imagined by voyagers of the past.
