Make the most of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show
The Chelsea Flower Show is a quintessential part of London summer. For many people, it signifies the start of the British summer - no matter how mild that may be.
But what is all the fuss about, and why is it such a big deal?
The Chelsea Flower Show is organised by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and has been held in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London since 1913. It has taken place every year, aside from the breaks taken during the World Wars, and has brought people to the beautiful borough each summer.
It aims to showcase the very best of cutting-edge garden design but guests can also find new plants and ideas to take home with them. As the most prestigious garden show in the world, it creates a lot of buzz whenever it's in London.
This year, the event runs from 23 May to 27 May and will see some of the best horticultural artists come together.
Some of the highlights from the 2017 show include the Chris Evans Taste Garden, which takes inspiration by TV baker Mary Berry and features some of the tastiest plants you can grow.
There's also The Welcome to Yorkshire garden, designed by Professor Nigel Dunnett, that pays homage to the incredible Yorkshire coast. Expect to see gardens in a brand new way, with a ruined abbey, chalk cliffs, a beach and the sea all playing key parts in his design.
These are just some of the shows that have already been announced for the Chelsea Flower Show and a few surprises are expected along the way.
Luckily, our hotel is just a short journey from the Royal Hospital Chelsea. Simply take the Tube from High Street Kensington to Sloane Square and you're just a few steps away from the splendour of the Chelsea Flower Show.
To celebrate this fantastic event, we've launched an exclusive Afternoon Tea menu. Between 15 May and 28 May, we will be serving a special treat inspired by the Chelsea Flower Show. Expect delicious specially made pastries and cakes with a floral twist and you can even upgrade to enjoy your Afternoon Tea with a gin pairing.
