It’s time to make self-care a priority. You can’t be strong for anyone else if you pour from an empty cup. Drop the guilt and take a day out for yourself where you can chill out and re-energise.  It’s vital to enjoy activities that are good for the soul and my new favourite day to do just that, is Sunday. Soothing, ‘chill your beans’ Sunday. Below, I share my suggestions to help you reclaim your Sundays, like I have. Bliss.

Get sweaty.

Run your heart out in Kensington Gardens. September is the perfect time to start a fitness routine again after an indulgent summer and nothing feels better for the body or mind than a sprint around the park. Fill your lungs with fresh air whilst taking in the views of Kensington Palace, the lake and the Royal Albert Hall. Stunning.

Visit the Royal Albert Hall.

This iconic venue and registered charity, offer tours to the public by day and live concerts and free exhibitions all year round. It is also home to the Elgar Room, a state-of-the-art performance area that will WOW you. With everything from live jazz to Jurassic Park in concert, there’s something uplifting and soul-stirring for everyone.

Shop (not until you drop).

Sunday is a time for slow-paced shopping. It's not as busy as Saturday and you can take your time browsing the stores in Kensington. Be it in Whole Foods picking up organic nibbles, or hitting the high street with stores like: Zara, Uniqlo, TK Maxx and Topshop on your doorstep. Also Harrods is not far in a cab. Enjoy every minute without needing to fight the crowds.

Book a treatment

Cobella Kensington (opposite the Royal Garden Hotel) is open on a Sunday, so go get your hair done, your nails polished or book a massage (with a multitude of both indulgent and express treatments available) at this ultra modern but super welcoming salon.

Book a night away

The Royal Garden Hotel’s 'Reclaim Your Sundays' package offers you a 5 star stay on a Sunday, including a three course Sunday Roast in the Park Terrace Restaurant, a Full English breakfast overlooking Kensington Gardens the following day, plus a late check out of 2pm (if you want to work from your room or simply rest up) on the Monday. You also get a complimentary teddy bear to take home to the kids!

How fabulous is that?
