GUEST CHEF TREND
Once upon a time, menus were the only thing that changed in a restaurant, and this only happened with the shift of the seasons. Things are very different now, especially in the bustling foodie scene that London has.
Guest chefs are a major trend for many restaurants, offering another level of exclusivity for those lucky enough to secure a seat.
The idea is that some of the best cooks in the world, especially those who are particularly innovative or progressive with the plates of food they serve up, do a short spell at another restaurant.
It aims to bring a breath of fresh life to London's already sophisticated and varied foodie scene. If you want to get on this trend on your next trip to the capital, then you'll need to jump on it as the guest chef menus usually only last a couple of weeks at most.
You'll find some of London's most exciting restaurants offering these exclusive menus. Here are some of our favourites:
This new restaurant in the heart of Shoreditch, which has already placed as the 54th best in the world, showcases the trend through its Guest Series. Throughout the year, some of the most innovative chefs show off their skills at Lyle's.
There are dates throughout this summer, so if you're planning a trip to London, it could be the perfect way to enjoy this foodie revolution. You will need to buy tickets ahead of the night and prices vary depending on what event you are attending, so make sure you keep an eye on their website.
Events in the Sky
Exclusively throughout summer, Events in the Sky will be welcoming a range of chefs to its table suspended 100 feet above London. Some of the city's best restaurants will be transferring their menus to the 12-day event running from July 19 - 30. If you've got a head for heights, this is definitely for you as you will be safely strapped into your seat before being raised into the air. Just 22 guests can fit on the table and a guest chef will be devising a fantastic menu for people to enjoy.
The Marylebone-based eatery offers a stripped-back atmosphere, giving plenty of room to celebrate the incredible produce served up. Carousel's open kitchen welcomes an ever-changing line-up of the world's most talented chefs. With events every few weeks, you can be sure to find one that suits your tastes and everyone shares the restaurant's philosophy.
London Food Month

A month-long celebration filled with hundreds of events throughout the world’s culinary capital. Highlights include special collaborations, unique experiences, guest chefs and a night market.
