The Royal Garden Hotel's Conference and Banqueting Team comes top in the inaugural Hotel Catey Awards 2007
The Conference and Banqueting team at the five star Royal Garden Hotel has been awarded the accolade of ‘Conference and Banqueting Team of the Year' at the 2007 debut Hotel Catey Awards.
Presented by Irish actor Ardal O'Hanlon, the awards honoured the very best of British hospitality within the hotel sector across 15 award categories.
Over 700 industry guests saw the Royal Garden Hotel's conference and banqueting team fight off stiff competition from The Dorchester, Four Seasons Hampshire and The Cumberland Hotel to win the coveted title of ‘Conference and Banqueting Team of the Year' Award.
The Hotel Cateys required the winner of this award category to demonstrate:
• Excellent communication and organisational skills with attention to detail
• A confident and courteous manner
• An increase in revenue generation or profitability of the conferencing and banqueting division
• Understanding of the client's needs
• Proactive selling skills: the ability to create action plans to fill quiet periods and to search for new business
• Operations management: strong working relationships with all departments to ensure timely delivery of service and product. Leadership by example.
• Technical skills: understanding of service procedures and food preparation in the hotel with wine and beverage knowledge.
The Royal Garden Hotel prides itself on offering both flexibility and a high standard of service at all times. This is highlighted by the conference and banqueting team who met all the requirements to be honoured with a Hotel Catey.
The awards, launched alongside sister award the Cateys earlier this year, have been designed to allow hoteliers to celebrate the achievements of their staff and give them industry-wide recognition.
The Cateys have recognised and celebrated the hospitality industry's highest flyers and strongest performers for 24 years. This year's addition of the Hotel Cateys to the Caterer Group's portfolio of awards has rewarded the unsung heroes of the hotel industry. As with the Cateys, recipients of Hotel Cateys were selected and recognised by their industry peers.
The 2007 Hotel Cateys were presented at a glittering awards ceremony at the London Hilton on Park Lane on Tuesday 13 November.
